Major gifts

  • $2 million from the Duke Endowment for the School of Nursing Building Fund
  • $200,000 from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation for the student scholarships in Duke’s Accelerated Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner programs. The grant will be matched by Duke University’s new Financial Aid Initiative for a total of $400,000.
  • $200,000 from an anonymous member of the school’s class of ’71: $100,000 for the Mary T. Champagne Professorship endowment and $100,000 to the School of Nursing Building Fund
  • $100,000 from Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Cullman to establish the Hugh & Nan Cullman Nursing Scholarship
  • $100,000 from the Medical Faculty Wives Board for Medical Faculty Wives Scholarship
  • $90,000 from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation for nursing scholarships
