By the numbers
The Fuqua School of Business has 825 Daytime MBA students enrolled, along with 664 Executive MBA students and 209 non-degree executive education participants. The school has 98 tenure-track faculty members.
Highlights
Duke trustees approved the new Fuqua classroom building to be named Breeden Hall after a $5-million commitment from Douglas and Josie Breeden.

Blair Sheppard was named as the new dean for The Fuqua School of Business, succeeding Doug Breeden, who will be returning to faculty after six years as dean.
Awards and recognition
Christine Moorman, the T. Austin Finch Sr. Professor of Marketing, won the Bank of America Faculty Award, Fuqua’s highest faculty honor.
Katherine Schipper was elected to the Accounting Hall of Fame.
Paul Zipkin and Bob Winkler were named Fellows of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS).
James Bettman received the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award of the Society of Consumer Psychology.
Finance professors Campbell Harvey and John Graham received a Graham and Scroll award.
Sim Sitkin won best paper award for the Academy of Management Review.
John Graham won best paper award for the Journal of Financial Economics.
Faculty and staff appointments
Six of Fuqua’s faculty were named to distinguished professorships (PDF link): Jennifer Francis, John Graham, David Hsieh, Joel Huber, Katherine Schipper, S. “Vish” Viswanathan.
Major gifts
Fuqua ended fiscal year 2006-2007 with a fund-raising total of approximately $12.3 million. Major new commitments include:
- $1 million from the F.M. Kirby Foundation to support Fuqua programs
- $1 million from an anonymous donor to establish a scholarship in support of Fuqua students in the Daytime MBA program
- $500,000 gift-in-kind from Formica Corporation and President/CEO Frank Riddick to renovate the table tops in the existing classrooms and in the new classroom addition
- $350,000 from Catherine E. Massey W’71 to establish a scholarship in support of Daytime MBA female students who are pursuing a career in entrepreneurship and in support of programs within the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- $250,000 from James L. Davis T’45 to establish a scholarship in support of Daytime MBA students who are pursuing a career in social entrepreneurship
- $250,000 bequest from Robert J. Keegan to support Fuqua programs
- $250,000 from Bruce E. Mosler T’79 and Wendy F. Mosler T’80 to support Fuqua programs
- $250,000 from L. Scott Rand B’93 to support Fuqua programs
