David Levi, chief U.S. district judge of the Eastern District of California, will succeed Katharine Bartlett as dean of the Duke Law School. Bartlett announced her plans last spring to return to teaching and scholarship after seven years as dean.
Blair Sheppard, CEO of Duke Corporate Education, was selected to succeed Doug Breeden as dean of the Fuqua School of Business when Breeden returns to faculty after six years as dean.
Mike Morsberger was selected as Duke Medicine’s new vice president for development and alumni affairs. Morsberger comes to Duke after considerable fund-raising success at Johns Hopkins and, before that, at the University of Virginia.
Three new members of the Duke University Board of Trustees began their terms on July 1, 2006: Thomas M. Gorrie of New Brunswick, New Jersey, corporate vice president of government affairs and policy for Johnson & Johnson; Janet Hill P’94 of Washington, D.C., vice president of Alexander and Associates Inc.; and Anthony Vitarelli T’05 of New Haven, Connecticut, as a young trustee.
